Critique of XRP and Cardano by Murad Mahmudov
Former Goldman Sachs analyst Murad Mahmudov recently stirred debates with his critique of Ripple-affiliated XRP and Cardano (ADA), categorizing them as meme coins associated with a 'cult' following. Mahmudov highlighted the evolving perception of XRP and ADA, now perceived as 'Cult Memecoins'.
Providing advice to prospective investors interested in meme coins, Mahmudov recommended focusing on projects valued between $5 million and $200 million. As a graduate of Princeton, he predicted altcoins to outshine other sectors within the cryptocurrency realm during the present period.
However, Mahmudov expressed reservations about a notable altcoin season, attributing it to the depletion of American household savings. While XRP witnessed significant growth during the 2017 bull market, uplifting Ripple founders to considerable wealth, the cryptocurrency continues to struggle, diminishing by 87% from its peak in January 2018, despite recent regulatory developments.
Likewise, Cardano (ADA) faced challenges, plunging by a substantial 87.8% from its peak in September 2021, despite its stellar performance in previous bullish cycles. Mahmudov, acknowledged for his role at Adaptive Capital in the crypto space, encountered obstacles when the hedge fund folded post a major crypto market crash in March 2020.
