A recent study by the trading platform 'eToro' highlighted both similarities and differences in the investment approaches of investors from Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The survey, which covered 1,000 investors in the UAE, focused on the confidence in the country’s economy.
General Trends and Economic Confidence
The survey indicated that investors from both emirates are confident in the long-term growth of the UAE economy. According to George Naddaf, Managing Director of eToro for the MENA region, "investors may approach portfolio goals and values differently, but they share a common confidence in the resilience of the UAE economy."
Asset Choices and Sector Allocations
The survey found cryptocurrencies to be the most popular asset class for both investor groups. Dubai also showed significant engagement in commodities and foreign stocks, while Abu Dhabi investors preferred local stocks. In terms of sector allocations, both emirates emphasize financial services, real estate, and technology, but Dubai shows a broader diversity.
Portfolios and Investor Goals
Portfolio sizes in Dubai are generally larger, with nearly 9% of investors holding assets exceeding AED 1 million, compared to 6% in Abu Dhabi. The main priorities for investors in both emirates are financial independence and long-term security.
Despite the differing approaches, investors from Dubai and Abu Dhabi demonstrated shared confidence in the future of the economy and key sectors such as real estate and technology, underscoring their awareness of growth opportunities in the UAE.
