Firo v0.14.13.3 Release Overview
The recent Firo v0.14.13.3 update emphasizes enhancing Spark performance, improving overall user experience, and providing better support for Spark light wallets.
RPC Integration for Enhanced Spark Wallet Support
In this update, new Remote Procedure Calls (RPCs) have been implemented to facilitate light wallet servers in querying the node for Spark state. This feature enables mobile wallets to identify Spark transactions in the mempool even before their inclusion in a block. Additionally, it ensures accurate balance calculation in specific edge cases.
A mechanism has also been introduced to help mobile wallets distinguish masternode collateral to prevent it from being included when sending FIRO.
These enhancements are in anticipation of launching a new Firo-only mobile wallet and a light desktop wallet in collaboration with Cypher Stack.
Increased Transaction Relay Size
The maximum transaction relay size has been raised from 100 kB to 250 kB. This adjustment simplifies UTXO consolidation and Spark minting processes. It is crucial for nodes to upgrade to relay these larger transactions effectively.
Furthermore, this update includes various bug fixes related to the migration from Lelantus to Spark and user interface enhancements.
Although there is no strict deadline for upgrading, it is strongly advised to update promptly. Mining pools and masternodes are urged to upgrade immediately to ensure seamless propagation of these expanded transactions.
Spark Optimization Enhancements
Significant enhancements have been made to Spark batch verification and Spark transaction processing, leading to improved synchronization times.
Support for Sending to EX-Addresses
With Binance incorporating EX-addresses, the UI now supports simplified sending to such addresses. It automatically identifies EX-addresses and facilitates the transition of funds from Spark to a transparent address before sending to an EX-address.
