In a significant move to combat the rising tide of cryptocurrency scams, the US Department of Justice, along with the FBI and Secret Service, has launched a new interagency task force known as the Scam Center Strike Force. This initiative aims to safeguard American citizens from fraudulent schemes orchestrated by Chinese transnational criminal organizations operating from Southeast Asia. According to the assessment of specialists presented in the publication, this task force is expected to enhance the effectiveness of law enforcement in tackling these complex crimes.

Formation of the Task Force

US Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced the formation of the task force, highlighting the urgent need to protect Americans from investment fraud. The initiative comes in response to a staggering tenfold increase in reported scams since 2019, underscoring the growing threat posed by these criminal networks.

Focus and Objectives of the Scam Center Strike Force

The Scam Center Strike Force will focus on recovering stolen funds and enhancing coordination among international law enforcement agencies to tackle these scams effectively. By pooling resources and expertise, the task force aims to disrupt the operations of these organizations and provide better protection for US citizens against the rising wave of cryptocurrency-related fraud.

In a recent development, the US Department of Justice charged five individuals for assisting North Korean cyber operations, highlighting the ongoing threat of international cybercrime. This follows the establishment of the Scam Center Strike Force aimed at combating cryptocurrency scams. For more details, see read more.
